The EAS Congress 2006 featured the Second Ministerial Forum the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Strategy the Seas of East Asia and the International Conference on Coastal and Ocean Governance: One Ocean, One People, One Vision. More than 800 people from 36 countries attended the five-day event, from 12-16 December, which was held in Haikou City, Hainan Province, PR China. Proceedings of a number of Side Events, including the First EAS Youth Forum, the Inaugural Meeting of the PEMSEA Network of Local Governments and the Meeting the EAS Partnership Council were published to share the actions being undertaken and developed in the region towards the sustainable development of marine and coastal resources.
