What is the East Asian Seas Congress?

Every three years, the GEF/UNDP/IMO PEMSEA conducts the East Asian Seas (EAS) Congress, a pioneering region-wide platform for capacity-building, strategic action and cooperation for the sustainable management and development for the region’s seas. The congress brings together government ministers and high-level officials; heads of regional, international and non-governmental organizations; experts; and private sector/civil society representatives for comprehensive forums, plenary sessions, workshops and seminars.

Who are the Congress partners?

GEF/UNDP/IMO PEMSEA is organizing the Congress together with the State Oceanic Administration of PR China, the Hainan Provincial / Haikou City government, and over forty (40) national, regional and international organizations. Click here for a full list of Partners.

How do I register?

Registration was closed last November 15. For any inquiries, please e-mail us at congress@pemsea.org. However, confirmed participants may still use the online billing system to settle their registration fees.
 

What are the conference fee inclusions?

The conference fee is inclusive of :

  • Access to all Workshops/Seminars, the Exhibit, two (2) Official Receptions on 12 and 15 December and other activities to be announced;

  • Official conference materials/kits

  • Three (3) Lunches and Tea/Coffeebreaks from 12-14 December;

Where is Haikou City? How do I get there? What are the airfare rates?

How can I apply for funding?

Application for financial support has been closed. However, we may provide you an endorsement letter to assist you in campaigning for support from other possible sponsors. By fax or email, please send us your official request letter stating your reason for attending the Congress, completed registration form and the full contact details of the sponsoring organization.
