From 12-16 December 2006, the East Asian Seas (EAS) Congress 2006 convened in Haikou City with over 800 participants representing governments, UN agencies, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, academe and youth.

The EAS Congress featured the International Conference on Coastal and Ocean Governance, the Ministerial Forum on the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Strategy for the Seas of East Asia (SDS-SEA), the Inaugural Meeting of the EAS Partnership Council, and several side events, including the EAS Youth Forum.

PEMSEA would like to take this opportunity to express its gratitude to the State Oceanic Administration of China, Partners, co-convenors, respective authors/presenters and participants for helping pioneer a region-wide platform for dialogue, meaningful knowledge exchange, capacity-building, strategic action and cooperation for the sustainable management and development of the Seas of East Asia.

EAS Congress multimedia materials are provided in this website to promote sharing of ideas, expertise and experiences as well as for the benefit of the EAS Congress 2006 participants.
