DETAILS
To visit China, a passport with a validity of at least 6
months and an entry visa is required. For groups, visa formalities can
be carried out only by the tour operator. Those traveling alone should
personally request the visa from the nearest Chinese consulate or
embassy and can be obtained only if invited by a private party, a
business, or a conference organization. For those going to Hong Kong, it
is advisable to seek information from a Chinese embassy or consulate.
Usually a visa is not necessary, but only a passport. From Hong Kong,
the entry visa for continental China can be obtained within a few days.
Invitation Letters for Visa Applications
for confirmed participants only
Visa application upon arrival will not be possible in
Haikou City. For smooth travel and entry to Haikou, kindly ensure
that you have an appropriate entry visa, if needed, prior to your
departure. The Secretariat will be pleased to facilitate visa
application of confirmed and officially-registered participants. Should
you require our assistance please fill up the
request form for official
invitation letters for visa application and submit on or before 6
November.

Secretariat through email at congress@pemsea.org or fax at +632 926
9712. The official invitation letter from the PR China host
will assist you in processing visa applications lodged at the Embassy /
Consulate Office in your area.

Arrangements
Haikou City is easily accessible via air transport from
Hong Kong and other major cities in China.
For general airline reservations, we have made
special arrangements with Travelex, Inc. (Philippines) to assist and
provide discounted rates to Congress participants. Please note however
that this discounted rate has ticket restrictions but varies depending
on the airline. For reservations/inquiries, please contact directly Ms.

For Philippine registered participants, the
Secretariat is encouraging you to avail of the discounted group rate for
your air ticket with a Manila-Haikou-Manila routing. Please note however
that this discounted rate has ticket restrictions (non-reroutable, non-endorseable,

Official Congress Transport
The EAS Congress will be accrediting official ground
transportation such as shuttles, buses and taxis for the convenience of
participants. Information will be provided on this page so please visit

Dining and Leisure
Restaurants
Hainan Province is famous for 4 kinds of dishes with
flavors particularly its own: Wenchang Chicken, Dongshan Mutton, Jiaji
Duck, and Hele Crab. These and other flavorful dishes can be found in
areas such as Jinlong Road and South Longkun Road.
We will be providing a list of recommended and accredited
dining establishments specially for Congress delegates.
Shopping
Haikou City offers value for money shopping with
establishments ranging from tourist-friendly local shops to modern and
bustling department stores. Delegates can visit any number of
establishments in Haixiu Road, West Jiefang Road, South Xinhua Road,
South Boai Road, South Longkun Road, Binhai Road and Desheng Street.
Places to go
Haikou can be both relaxing and exciting with a variety
of attractions.
Historic sites include the Wugong Temple, probably the
most famous attraction in Haikou, The Memorial Temple for the Five
Officials, Lingshan Temple, Hai Rui Park and Xiuying Ancient Cannon
Fort, one of 4 ancient cannon forts.
The sprawling Seaside Park adjacent to the People’s Hall
is a peaceful area overlooking the harbor and is recommended for
informal gatherings by participants. There are also several world-class
golf courses such as the Westcoast Golf Club and Meishi Mayflower.
Cafes, teahouses, bars and other modern recreation
establishments can be found in Binhai Road, Longkun Road, Yilong Road
and Jiefang Road.
The beaches on Haikou City are first-rate and one of the
most visited in China. Along the more than 20 kilometers of coastline
are several tourist areas and resoirts such as Holiday Beach, Xixiu
Beach, Baishamen Beach and Xinbu Beach.
